Educational Requirements for a Meal Maker
Please make sure to review the WI Department of Children and Families Administrative Code 251 website for their requirements of a meal maker [referenced as meal preparation personnel].
As of May 24, 2024, the following is required:
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Prior to assuming the position, a person hired to be a meal maker shall complete or obtain one of the following:
- complete and document at least four hours of training in kitchen sanitization, food handling, and nutrition prior to beginning work.
Training Requirements for a Meal Maker Team Member
In Wisconsin and at Just Like GRAMMY & POPPOP’S, it is required that you have additional training on policies, procedures, and safety measures. These are covered in our Team Member Onboarding.
Continuing Education for a Meal Maker
Continuing Education is required each year for Meal Makers. This requirement (accurate as of 5/24/24) is one hour of training in kitchen sanitation, food handling and nutrition annually.
